About us
Hill View Farm Nursery is different. Located on a small-holding in the Chiltern Hills, we believe that our children should have the opportunity to learn and develop surrounded by nature.
Our educational philosophy is grounded in the belief that creativity is the most essential tool for life, driving the pursuit of knowledge, innovation, and human progress. We aim to foster an environment where maths, science, art, and communicatiom are not just subjects to be developed but avenues through which creative thinking is cultivated and celebrated.
By emphasising the interconnectedness of these disciplines and their roots in creativity, we prepare students to contribute original thought and lead humanity into a successful future.

Our Setting
Babies & Toddlers (9 months to 2/2.5 years)
The Baby and Toddler Room is a warm and homely environment. We understand the importance of routine and structure for a child, which is why our dedicated team follow each child’s home routine whilst they are in the baby room. Aside from their tailored routine, we ensure their day is as stimulating as possible through sensory play, song time, stories and craft activities. Our knowledgable and nurturing team provide meaningful opportunities where children can explore and learn in a home from home environment.
Preschool (2/2.5 years - 4.5/5 years)
The Preschool Room is a fun-filled environment where children feel comfortable in making their own choices when selecting activities. All toys are fully accessible which benefit their independence and help them in becoming confident learners.
Outdoor Facilities
Our setting has an extensive outdoor play space with free flow between indoors and outdoors.

Creativity as the Cornerstone of Learning: We believe that every child is innately creative, and our role as educators is to nurture and develop this potential through all areas of study.
Interdisciplinary Learning: We embrace the interconnectedness of maths, science, art, and communication. These disciplines are not isolated; rather, they intersect and complement one another, providing a holistic educational experience that mirrors the real world.
Child-Centred Approach: Drawing from Maria Montessori’s philosophy, we recognise the importance of a child-centred learning environment where students are active participants in their own education. We encourage self-directed exploration and provide materials and activities that support independent discovery and creativity.
Learning through Play and Exploration: Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, we value the role of play, experimentation, and exploration in learning. Children learn best when they are engaged in meaningful, hands-on activities that stimulate their curiosity and imagination.
Constructivist Learning: In line with Jean Piaget’s theories, we understand that children construct knowledge through their interactions with the world. We provide opportunities for children to explore, question, and build their understanding through experiential learning and problem-solving.
Multiple Intelligences: Following Howard Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences, we recognise that children have diverse ways of learning and expressing their creativity. Our curriculum is designed to engage and develop various intelligences, including logical-mathematical, linguistic, spatial, musical, and bodily-kinesthetic.

While we encourage the children to explore outside in all weather conditions, we do have a wonderful indoor area that is warm, inviting and stimulating for when they would prefer to be inside.
